Mental Health Skill Building Services and Requirements


We assist individuals over age 18 diagnosed with serious mental illness to live independently in the community.

Treatment focus is on developing basic living skills in the following areas:

  • Health and safety
  • Attending medical/psychiatric appointments
  • Activities of daily living
  • Use of community resources
  • Medication management
  • Health
  • Nutrition
  • Symptom management
  • Adherence to psychiatric and medication treatment plans
  • Development of social skills
  • Personal hygiene
  • Food preparation
  • Money management
  • Building a personal support system


The individual must meet all of the following:

  • Be diagnosed with a serious mental illness
  • Need training in basic life skills such as managing symptoms, following through with medical and mental health treatment, building social skills, tending to personal hygiene, budgeting, and food preparation
  • Have a history of a psychiatric hospitalization or a similarly intensive intervention
  • Have had a prescription for psychotropic medications within the last year
